Garrett Borough Council members are not wasting time on moving forward with other construction plans after completing a $3.2 million sewage project.

John M. Bacha. 46, of Pleasant Unity and supervisor of the Bacha-Gaut Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Unity, was elected recently as chief of the Pleasant Unity Volunteer Fire Department, succeeding William P. 'Bill' Henschel, who had been chief since 1979.

Construction crews completed a $154,000 stream restoration project at Bigby Run Dam in August, but borough council now wants to sell the property.

State police in Greensburg said Deanne M. Smith 25, of West Newton was in fair condition at Allegheny General Hospital after a 10:30 p.m. accident along Herminie-West Newton Road, while Kayla M. Garland, 19, of Pleasant Unity was released after she was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with multiple injuries after a 7:48 a.m. accident along state ... (more)
