Career-diploma rules being crafted to meet grant-givers' expectations

The state Department of Education is trying to salvage its chances of receiving up to $400 million in federal money by tightening the policy requirements for a newly enacted "career diploma" program lawmakers passed to help keep non-academically inclined students from dropping out , Education Superintendent Paul Pastorek said Tuesday.
