The annual meeting of the Alexandria Chapter of the Retired State Employees Association is set for 9:30 a.m. March 1 in the Main Street Community Center, 708 Main St. in Pineville. Chapter President Victor Dennis will introduce state officers and board members, and officials from the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System (LASERS), the Office of Group Benefits and Great-West Retirement Services will be available to answer questions. Alexandria driver charged after crash in Pineville
An Alexandria woman was arrested on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, on Tuesday after she was involved in a crash on Cottingham Expressway, Pineville police said. Rhea Brown, 22, 4820 Willow Glen St., Alexandria, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension, reckless operation of a vehicle, open container, no proof of insurance and no proof of registration after police responded to an accident in the 1700 block of Cottingham (U.S. Highway 167) around 12:23 a.m. Tuesday. There were no reported injuries in the accident. Brown's blood-alcohol content was 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit, officials said, and Brown admitted to drinking alcohol continually since 7 a.m. Monday. While being treated by paramedics on scene, Brown became combative with medical personnel, officials said.
