Spring arrived Monday night in the wake of a cold storm that added a late layer of snow across Arizona's high country and ended a three-month rainless streak in Phoenix.

Maverik Inc. opened its newest location Thursday in Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz. This is the third location in the Eastern Arizona area for the Salt Lake City-based convenience store chain, according to a report in the White Mountain Independent .

The largest wildfire in state history has been extinguished for more than a month, but tourism businesses in the White Mountains still are fighting to recover lost revenue before the slower winter months arrive.

Snowflake Town Manager Paul Watson has been appointed by Governor Jan Brewer to the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism.
