Diane Duquette resigned as Kern County library director Tuesday after a month-long county investigation found she'd made personal trips using a county vehicle and gas card and during work time.

Heavy snow is expected in Kern County's mountains, including Interstate 5 over the Grapevine and Highway 58 through Tehachapi, from Monday through about 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong winds were reported over numerous Central Valley counties, knocking down trees and branches and power lines and blowing dust and debris everywhere, the California Highway Patrol reported Thursday afternoon.

Kern County Library Director Diane Duquette has apparently been placed on leave by the Board of Supervisors after months of investigation into her use of a county-funded car and fuel cards.
