City alleges porn found on computer of fired employee

Okay let's hear it... this is more of the hunt witch by the Mayor and City Council, right? Paul and Tim are a couple of angels and the City of Pickerington is doomed without them, right?

I don't believe it is a witch hunt but I do think it is interesting that when Hansley was fired it was hush, hush. Now, it is the other way around and it is going to be known - the particulars - as why someone was fired.
Mayor O'Brien was very concerned when Keith Smith wanted to know "why" publicly and Mayor O'Brien stated that their is a code of honor and it shouldn't be discussed.
Where is the code of honor in this case?
Don't get me wrong..I believe in public office, it should be known as you should be accountable to the citizens. I am; however, frustrated as our leaders pick and choose what should be known and when.

I don't think that once the decision to fire Tim was made, it would have been a good idea to announce that one of the reason was that some of the staff Tim managed was surfing porn. I'd imagine that they needed to keep it quiet so that the roaches didn't scatter when the light came on.

This business makes me sick to my stomach. To think that these people are being paid to do this nonsense and getting paid is horrible. And that three councilman wanted to keep these people! That's worse and they should resign from office!

Who knows what the truth really is? It all sounds pretty petty to me. Tim Hansley is a professional, honorable man and the city took a giant leap backward with his demise.

I have been wondering.
Mr. Hansley was Economic Director before he was Manager.
If this was truly just the Mayor and Manager not seeing eye-to-eye then why didn't Council just move him back to Economic Developer,
He was doing a great job there.
I read the comments for big investors and they truly felt he help them and he was a big reason for coming to Pickerington.
Is there more to this. Did Mr. Hansley find that Mr. Lane really did not deserve to be fired?
The investigation for Lane seems to have come after Mr. Hansley was let go by Council.

The Mayor asked repeatedly for Hansley to get the staff under control. He refused.

Why do you think that Tim has been fired so many times in the past? He wants to run City Hall his way and answer to no one. Wake up, Tim. The tail does not wag the dog.

Ok... First of all, Tim was fired for no reason. Pickerington has a bipolar mayor and a chief of police that is wiping his @ss.. Paul Lane was such a respectable employee.. There are so many city employees and business employees that can vouch for this!! What happened to the policeman (Tye?) that ACTUALLY WAS PROVED TO BE LOOKING AT PORN IN HIS SQUAD CAR.. and simply got a slap on his wrist? Also, women employees of the city who are having a power struggle, have stirred all this up!! I just hope they can sleep at night!! You know ladies, what comes around goes around!! If you all feel better for doing this, more power to you!! This does not make the "city of pickerington" look good by any means... you are only bringing your society down... and the sad thing is , most of the people in Pickerington know that you have had such well respected employees, but now 2 are gone, now you are left with the select few that are are wonderful and the few that are running "getting off on this"" .... not to mention names, but Chief Taylor, Mayor Mitch?, Brenda Van Cleave, Fiona ( are you from Shrek), Sandy,.... whoever else you are that are thriving from Mr. Hansley, and Mr. Lane being fired....I hope you can sleep at night!! The other shoe will drop.... so... all of you that are smiling now...better watch you step!! You are next in line!!

Another comment, Mr. Lane admitted to looking at his personal email at work.. now someone is stating that he admitted to looking at porn? What happened between last week and this week? Can someone see that these so called "reputable city employees" are twisting Mr. Lanes words? You can ask any resident of Pickerington about Mr. Hansley and Mr Lane.. they miss them both! As for the Mayor or the Chief? Anyone that fires great employees for their own satisfaction? well... I hope you feel good about yourself..... I would not want to be in your shoes... or actually be a part of your family..how sad to wreck other families for no reason!! I hope you believe in God!!!

Tim was fired from Beavercreek. Fact. Tim was fired from Dublin. Fact. In both of these cases he lost his job because he decided that he didn't need to listen to those that paid his salary. The taxpayers. How many houses need to fall into disrepair before a change is made. How many developers are going to decide never to do business in Pickerington ever again before a change is made. Give us a number, Carol.

It isn't someone saying that Lane was surfing porn, Carol. It's the Police department! This isn't rumor, it's fact! Everyone at City Hall knows you're crazy, but now you're proving yourself to be naieve too.

Really? So, why did the Police department not want to further investigate? Or, tell Lane what they found? Wouldn't Lane just resign instead of being terminated with these FALSE allegations? Funny, they decided to check his computer AFTER they had already talked about getting rid of him, Tim, and the others on their "HIT LIST".

There were no allegations against Paul. Porn was found on his work PC and he was fired. There was no offer to allow him to resign because none was needed. He was using his work PC to surf porn. What is so difficult for you to understand about that? The Police did look at several machines and his was the only one found will illict material.

"Seriously" - time for your meds. I bet 99% of "the citizens of Pickerington" have/had no clue who this person was or what he did. Seriously it sounds like you work at city hall and you just lost one of your lunch buddies, guess you'll have to find someone else to spend those 3 hour lunches with on our dime.

And if you read the article most of this was taken from his personnel file NOT comments made by anyone.

Come on people..... I get dirty emails on my computer all the time.
The only thing Lane did was look at his email while at work and got some OFF COLOR emails from people. Sorry but the city can do whatever and say whatever they want about people and we all believe the worst. Big difference between Surfing for porn and calling his off color emails that people sent him Porn. That said then I have porn on my computer also.

Finally , someone who understands!!! I'm sure if they tapped every employees computer , they would be guilty of this!! Those 2 ladies have their undies in a twist!!! Thank you for making such a more realistic observation!!!

Seems like I hit a nerve. But the complete lack of professionalism you displayed above calling out co-workers just proves that your buddy got fired and I bet you're afraid someone's going to come onto the fact that you're probably not working either. Go drink your lunch tomorrow and cry over your buddy losing his cushy job for not doing any work.

It's a very bold statement to assume that everyone at City Hall would be found to be guilty of this sort of abuse. If you think that Paul was merely opening emails, you're as nutty as people say you are MIZZ Carol.

And as far as you calling out other City employees by name, shame on you MIZZ Carol. I find it odd that you have the courage to stand before Council week after week and spout off at the mouth, but you don't have the courage to sign your name here when attacking employees that have done nothing but the jobs they were hired to do.

This is very interesting and obvious that there are two sides to this story. And usually the truth lies somewhere in between.

I find it interesting - Picktown Pete - your connection to council. And that you disaprove of others calling out by name, yet partake in calling out people by name. Seems like there are two sides to your story.
