The fire outside Phelps City was originally ruled an accident. But persistent rumors that it might have been arson prompted Atchison County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Whittington to reopen the case about a week ago.

The summer floods of 2011 took a toll on Missouri highways. The area hardest hit was in northwest Missouri where several highways have been closed for months but, thanks to the mild winter, the roads are opening sooner than expected.
