Frank and Anita Carter announce the engagement of their daughter, Cortney Beth Chambers, to Keith Ray Winegarner of Perryton. Keith is the son of Norlan and Linda Winegarner of Spearman.
Cortney is the granddaughter of W.L. Chambers of Perryton. Keith is the grandson of Ila Willis of Spearman and Herbert and Delma Winegarner of Springfield, CO.
The couple will be married on July 19, 2008, at Country Home Weddings in Canyon, Texas.
Cortney graduated from Perryton High School in 2001 and from Texas Tech University in 2005 with Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is a First Grade Teacher Wright Elementary Perryton, Texas. Read more

NPEC Youth Tour Winners Announced
Leigh Ann Winger of Gruver and Jonathan Harder of Perryton won a 9-day, all expense paid trip to Washington, DC as winners of North Plains Electric Cooperative's Government-in-Action Youth Tour contest.
Leigh Anne, a sophomore at Gruver High School, is the daughter of David and Teague Winger. Harder, a junior at Perryton High School, is the son of Loren and Maylene Harder. They will join other young people from Texas who have won similar contests on June 12 in Irving. From there they will fly to Washington, DC. Read more

Local Vietnam War Heroes Honored By Classmates
Members of the Spearman High School Class of 1966 placed a wreath on the Vietnam Wall replica that was in Perryton last week. Members of the class met at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8 to place the wreath in honor of fallen classmates Lloyd Lynn Buzzard and George Thomas Gibner.
Tommy and Lynn were killed in June 1969 in Vietnam.
Lloyd Lynn Buzzard and George Thomas Gibner are the legal names of our Class of 66 Vietnam casualties. Both went by their middle names Lynn and Tommy. The Class of '66 had 79 Seniors. Lynn held many honors his senior year, including Student Council President, Sentinel for FFA, Mr. SHS, was in Who's Who, as well as playing football. Read more

Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall Makes Appearance in Perryton
The City of Perryton is proud to sponsor the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC (replica scaled to 80%) American Veterans Traveling Tribute.
The City of Perryton and surrounding counties are pleased to announce a tribute and celebration of our Veterans from our Revolutionary War to the Soldiers of today.
A parade escort of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. as it is brought into Perryton. The escort route will be up Highway 83 (Main Street) and on to the Ochiltree County Expo Center. A reception will be held at the Expo for those escorting the Wall into Perryton. Read more
