Quakertown officials say vandalism may close skate park
Vandalism has Quakertown threatening to close its skate park just weeks after Borough Council enacted changes meant to keep it open.
Last month, Quakertown removed a $3-a-head fee to use the ramps at Main Street park, taking down a fence and allowing youths to ride at their own risk, a move that Perkasie has successfully instituted.
But Quakertown officials on Monday said that a spate of hooliganism has them reconsidering whether the park will be able to remain at all. Since it was opened, youths have spray-painted signs and damaged ramps by riding bicycles on them, causing damage that the borough may not want to spend money to fix, officials said.
