As city officials try to decide where they will install large new power lines in south Columbia, Boone County commissioners are trying to ensure their constituents aren't left out of the decision.

A proposal to build three high-voltage transmission lines serving a new substation has many residents of southwest Columbia worried about health risks and visual clutter, Fifth Ward Councilwoman Laura Nauser said yesterday.
