Is age now an excuse for driving dangerously and causing property damage? Instead of ignoring this accident, I think there was good basis for the Sheriff's Dept. to require that the driver's license be suspended until she is examined to determine whether she is medically fit to operate a motor vehicle. Falling asleep at the wheel at 10:45 in the morning is not normal, and clearly is as dangerous as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver is very lucky that she didn't hurt or kill someone - there would be no "free pass" for that.
