West Tenn. National Guard unit conducting training in Bulgaria

Guard spokesman Randy Harris told the Paris Post-Intelligencer (http://bit.ly/1oWNRbd ) that 40 members of the 212th Engineer Co. went overseas on Monday. The exercise is part of the State Partnership Program, or SPP, which dates back to the breakup of the Warsaw Pact in the early 1990s. Harris says the program establishes bilateral relationship between foreign countries and U.S. states through the state's National Guard. Tennessee first worked with Bulgaria in 1993.
