Derek did not deserve to die like that. He was a very sweet person. Someone said that Martin has nothing left to live for. Big deal, he should suffer the rest of his life. I feel sorry for Derek's family. God bless you Derek, May you rest in peace.

i knew derek from a few years back & this really upset me that this happened. i just dont understand y people do things like this anymore. i pray for dereks family n may he rest in peace. he'll be loved n missed by all.

I went to school with Derek. Did not know him well, however was not the kind of person to start trouble always kept to himself. Best whishes to his family.

the sad truth is this was a man that had epo's on him before,,,, im not so sure that those things work at all,,, perhaps long jail terms are needed to just let them see look this is life in prison you want that for 40 years? Maybe Billy wouldnt be where he is today if he had done a few years for the past aggressions and Derek would still be with us.

What ever they do to martin won't be enough. An eye for an eye won't bring Derek back. Henever got to take his son trick or treating, that poor will never look at Halloween the same again.

This is a horrible tragedy. Two lives are over just like that. One will be 6 feet under and the other will be put away for a long time....how special was this girl they were fighting over? All I can think about are those babies that will never really know their daddies. I just with people could solve their problems without bringing weapons into it. It's so scary how many people carry guns and knives these days. I will pray for both families. Paris has seen too many young men dying lately....when will it be over??

Putting the one away will improve the quality of life of all the rest of us!

To those of you who think two men have lost their lives I want you to recount. Only one man is never going to get to see his child smile and hear his laugh, feel the warmth of his mothers love or even feel the sun on his face again. Think of this Martin guy who took the life of a young kind loved man and in return is getting three squares and being taken care of on the dime of the people whos lives he has forever changed. By my count only ONE man has lost his life. An eye for an eye dosn't bring Derek back, but I can't stand to think that my taxes are giving this murderer any kind of life.

Kind of hard to plead self defense when you go to there house and pull them outside,,, of course Derek fought back any of us would fight for our lives,,, them stack of old EPO'S aint gonna help a lot either! Once an animal always an animal.

That self defense is a bunch of crap. There were witnesses and all will come out in court. That girl is going to get it to for lying to the cops. I wonder if it was all a set up to begin with.
