Autopsies becoming less common

I can't encourage people enough to have their loved ones autopsied, especially if there is even the slightest question of the cause of death. My father, who died very suddenly in our living room years ago, got away without an autopsy because of a sleepy ME awakened in the middle of the night who botched a line of questioning with my mother and then wrote meaningless gibberish on my father's death certificate. One year later, when my mother died, her doctor wrote on her death certificate that she died from the very conditions he had told her only the day before were 100% improved. I then ordered an autopsy, which revealed that her true cause of death was totally unrelated to anything for which she'd been treated, and which the doctor could not possibly have foreseen. In this case, the autopsy actually forestalled legal action against the doctor. So get it done, people. You deserve to know the truth.

I have to agree with Kevin totally. If he hadn't have done the autopsy on his mother, he might have been suing the doctor for no reason and wasted his money and the time of the courts.
