Bratton is held in such high esteem. How come no one mentions his allegiance to former Deputy Chief Michael Berkow who's had a casting couch for positions and promotions. In an era, where government agencies and private companies spend so much money to prevent sexual harassment, this Bratton relishes it and continues to give this creep prestigious positions with hugh salary increases. See who Bratton picked to help him head up this highly touted and overly sold security company. Help me understand why you would want to replace him with somebody akin. Do you really think he is singlehandedly responsible for anything good that has happened with the Los Angeles Police Department. What a joke!

Let's just offer the job to Berkow! At least I'd know how to get a promotion.

Berkow was not from the LAPD and should have never been there. No integrity and out for himself. No loyalty either, so quick to leave Savana Georgia for another job. Hope they realize he was not originally from LAPD

The best man for the job is a woman - Sandy Jo MacArthur. She is intelligent, strong, and most importantly understands training. She has the temperment and understandings the inner workings of the Department. How does Chief MacArthur sound?

Is Sergio Diaz in the running? He is a good choice for the Chief spot. The line officers like him. Beck is also a good choice.

I'm not so sure about Diaz' temperament for the job... In the field I have seen him lose his cool on more than one occasion...

I see the DN reporter just regurgitates the talking point about crime rates (allegedly) at "historic lows" without providing any context or independent analysis. As most everyone who doesn't have their heads in the sand knows, L.A. is definitely NOT the safest it's been in decades --regardless of whether "crime rates" are at "historic lows."

Thanks for nothing Bratton; don't let the door hit you in the ***

If antonio doesn't pick Sheriff Arpaio, then he'll select someone that will give him cover, just as Bratton did. Let's hope that antonio would not obstruct the new chief from really enforcing the law. And would it be possible for antonio to allow the new chief to conduct press conferences alone?

Respectfully,

I agree with Centurion! Diaz is a very respectful leader. I am pulling for him.

Bratton did not do anything single handedly...Bratton brought his East Coast politics to LA. In your face, cronyism, has allowed nepotism and lacking respect and integrity. He is an awesome politican.

I would prefer we hire a Chief that actually worked the field. Someone that understands our city, not someone that has worked in Administrative positions. I hope the City hires a person that is qualified and committed to the City of Los Angeles. Doesn't matter what gender or ethnicity, the new chief must be qualified and experienced.

No Sergio Diaz, ask anyone living in MacArthur Park area of Rampart and they will tell you Diaz loves illegals and support them even before his cops. He is from Havana, Cuba and good friends with the Mayor. They have an agenda that includes making Los Angeles better for immigrants who aren't legalized. Diaz made up his mind to be a candidate only after his friend George Gascon in SF decided not to come back to LA. Doesn't sound like a man who has leadership. Diaz supports the politicans first then the rank and file. Agree he loses his temper easy which is a Cuban trait. Its less then 3 years he's been a deputy chief. Hardly qualified to play with the big boys

you have to be kidding some of these so called qualified candidates are a joke. sharon can not even fulfill the limited job assignments she has now. sandy jo has never had a command and is a lightwieight. Diaz is famous for telling good jokes--that is what he is as a candidate for this job--a joke
Albanese might be ok. Paysinger was a OJ hanger on at his house and the gun OJ held to his head going down the freeway years ago belonged to paysinger. he is a screwed up hipocrite.
ask any one on the dept they will tell u most of these guys are a joke

Dennis, what is your issue with Diaz? I see the same comment from you on every article that mentions him. He is highly respected among the rank and file, you have no idea what you are talking about. Saying that he is good friends with the Mayor shows how little you know. Just because he doesn't feel that it is the job of LAPD to enforce immigration laws but that of ICE does not mean he has an agenda. You sound like a paranoid conspiracy theorist. Good thing your opinion doesn't matter...

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Sagittarius

People around you may be insistent in their demands and they seem unreasonable, which in turn will lead to mental tension for you. There is the danger that this will dull your resolve, but the real path still lies ahead, beyond these temporary hurdles. Don't take this as a setback: there's no need to change your course of action.
