Tuesday 8 p.m. Update: A trooper shot by a suspect during a traffic stop Friday has been released from the hospital, according to the Hope Star.

Arkansas State Trooper, Corporal Pete Penney, was wounded Friday night during a shootout with a suspect following a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 278 between Ozan and Nashville near the Hempstead and Howard County line.

KTBS 3 News has learned that a state trooper has been shot at least once in the abdomen north of Ozan, Arkansas.

Federal regulators have sent back to the Postal Service the plans to close post offices in southwestern Arkansas and northeastern Texas while upholding plans to close two other post offices in Arkansas.
