Bucking the conventional wisdom that warns against asking voters for more money in a general election year, the Osseo school board will do just that in November.

Schools are feeling the pinch at the gas pump, too. Many school districts are getting socked with skyrocketing bills for diesel fuel as high as hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Some people say when one door closes, another one opens. The same could be said about Edgewood Elementary School in Brooklyn Park.

Osseo schools is putting its check from the state of Minnesota to immediate use: The district is rehiring 23 of the 185 teachers the school board decided to lay off in March.

More state funding for education came as a surprise to many school districts. For the Osseo School Dist.

The Osseo City Council appointed a new public works director, approved a police power shift and looked at no parking in a right turn only lane along Central Avenue.

The Osseo Family Festival and Concerts in the Park will soon be underway for the summer 2008 season.

At the close of the 2007-08 school year, 129 probationary teachers in Osseo School Dist.

That will give the Lake 12 teams. Chanhassen will be the second high school in the Chaska district.

Keenan Hooper likes to joke around and admits he has a motormouth. He also admits to getting into trouble again and again with teachers weary of his antics.

“We can't raise test scores if kids are constantly being sent out.”
