OPHEIM, Mont. - This place smells of hot butter and heavy cream, of earthy red potatoes, heated milk and traces of bread flour searing on a hot grill as Montana farm women turn thin rounds of Norwegian tradition with sticks.

Facing fierce competition in a normally quiet race, three incumbents won re-election to the North Valley County Water & Sewer District.

A A A Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Opheim Gym for the annual membership meeting of NorVal Electric.

In the local elections coming up Nov. 3, many positions have just one candidate, but there is competition for three contests in Valley County.
