Blue Marble Energy Corp and the Odessa Public Development Authority have been awarded $2 million from Washington's Community Economic Revitalization Board to build the state's first specialty biochemical biorefinery in Lincoln County, Wash.

Seattle-based Blue Marble Energy , the developer of renewable energy and specialty chemicals from biomass, said it has received a $2 million state grant through a partnership with the Odessa Public Development Authority.

Two Seattle bio-energy companies, Blue Marble Energy Corp. and Bionavitas, have joined forces to produce biochemicals from microalgae using a Bionavitas process that can greatly increase large-scale algae production.

A new, eight-million-gallon-a-year biodiesel plant in Washington state has come on line with the opening of the facility's canola crusher, joining its biodiesel brewer that began refining last November.
