We have to address the misuse and unlawful diversion of water from our surrounding creek areas. I have lived here my whole life and I
have seen first hand people violating laws concerning water diversion and pumping water from
area creeks that used to have salmon and steel
head spawing in the water ways. It is a total
abuse of our enviorment and it amazes me that local and state authorities have no right to go
on these properties and investigate such blantant
disregard for the water going into the river and
the impact on fish populations. I don't know what
the use of the water is for, but it is happening all around this valley and in this county.
Even right up the west hills, not 500 feet out
of the city limits.
How can we save our water and enviorment if no
one is held accountable or checks out water diversions and/or water stealing from local creeks?

I hear you. Yet, they do have the right. Creeks, rivers, streams are public to the normal full waterline, even when low. They have the right to walk the streams. You do too.

It doesn't happen much however. Just like in the case of the firefighters recently, people are afraid of getting shot at. They stay out, unless there is a big issue.

Mendocino has a "don't ask-don't tell" policy on things like this.
