An Oakman man was killed late Friday after crashing his 2002 Ford F150 pickup in a one-vehicle wreck on Intersate 22 in Jasper, the Alabama Department of Public Safety said today in a news release.

JASPER, Ala. -- Alabama State Troopers are working to determine a cause for a single vehicle accident that occurred in Jasper on I-22. Billy Ray Linard, 48, of Oakman, was the only person fatally injured in the crash that happened around 11:58pm Friday night.

A coal belt conveyer running from No. 7 Mine to No. 5 Mine preparation plant. The conveyer is part of a new plant proposed by Walter Energy for northern Tuscaloosa County.

Walter Energy announced last week that it would make a more than $1 billion investment to develop a new, underground metallurgical coal mine in northern Tuscaloosa County that will create 530 mining jobs once construction the mine is finished.
