So awesome. Saves us from making two trips. Maybe some of the prices can come down at the other stores in competition. Shopping locally is Smith's and Albertson's...it's not like this is going to close down Pop's Corner Grocery Store.

If you haven't all seen by now the "good" Walmart does for the community, I urge you to check it out on your own. Its the richest company in the world. But they don't pay their full time employees enough to pay for their own health insurance and encourage them to go on welfare. They prevent their employees from establishing a union with illegal tactics. They shut down small businesses all over the country. Walmart is not good for anyone no matter how cheap their Chinese made products are.

I agree with what you said Brian. For my part I won't shop there for groceries and the like. The other stores in this area will STILL get my business. I prefer dealing with more ethical companies.

Coalville needs the tax revenue. Why don't they relocate there? I'd love to see it gone.

I will continue to support the exsisting local markets. I know W. marts objective is to drive out the competetion, pay the lowest wages possible and train their employees how to get the most out of the state $$$$. You may think you are going to save money, but it will cost you in the long run by less good paying jobs, forcing you to be able to only shop there. If you need a super center, go to one they are building in Heber.. It's close enough. Please stop this from happening... pc. condo owner....

I totally agree with Brian. I will not step foot into a Walmart for those very reasons. They have the MOST unethical business practices from their purchasing of product (most of which is from China after cutting out the middle man) down to advising their employees how to leach off of the government for their medical care (use the emergency room) and hiring mostly part-time so they don't have to provide them benefits. No wonder they are the largest in the world! It may not be long before they are the only choice that you have left....sad.

Great, is there a way to vote this expansion down? Can we circulate a petition? Shutting down a grocery chain like Smiths or Albertson's isn't a big deal, but The Market is locally owned and run as well as Fairweather, which both provide wholesome food options. Park City does not need a Walmart to monopolize the grocery market with their cheap unwholesome 'food'.

I think the best way to register our feelings about the Wally World expansion is to "vote with our feet" - i.e., to point them in the other direction, and head to local businesses. I understand that shopping at a cut-rate place like Walmart may be an economic necessity for some, and I don't fault them for trying to stretch their budgets, especially in the current economic climate. For for those who have the option, however, please continue to support local merchants whenever possible. It may cost a few dollars more in the short run, but the long term benefits to the community will be well worth it.

Walmart hasn't upheld their agreements with the store already there...what makes anyone think they will keep the latest round of agreements so they can expand. They got to pull the wool over the county's eyes again.

I don't shop there, never have, never will.

At the same time though a little introspection into why so little manufacturing remains here would be welcome. Buying a Chinese made toaster from some mom and pop store for a buck more than you could have at WM isn't going to fix much IMO. We've also become such a throwaway society, we want the toaster for six bucks even if we have to buy a new one every year. Few remember the days when something like that would have been made with quality that lasted for many years, set you back a days wages, and when it did break you got parts and fixed it.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Capricorn

You're feeling edgy as Mars moves into reverse, and it won't be long before people start to get on your nerves. You might get very irritated by someone's funny little habits, yet feel you daren't say anything in case you go overboard. Or you could get very annoyed when someone blurts out something that was supposed to be a secret but which quickly becomes common knowledge.
