Hurricane Diana makes landfall in New Hanover County 30 years ago
When it seemed like Diana was making a turn out to sea, it looped back around making landfall just offshore from Wilmington. The category two storm did finally leave, but not for another 12 hours after making landfall and after dumping about 14 inches of rain.
