Still buy and build in flood plain areas and filled in former swampy areas.

A fool and his house are soon flooded.

Interesting fact. Up North a river or lake can rise 10 feet and because the land is hilly, it doesn't expand more than a few feet beyond it's original banks. But in Florida the land is flat and low, when a river or lake rises 10 foot, it often expands miles beyond it's original banks.

Live and learn you water-view lovers.

What a freaking idiot you are.. I remember two 100 year floods recently in Iowa and Missouri and you can only reference a river with 10 foot banks UP NORTH somewhere.. Really, you are so stupid I don't know how you can find your way...

There, you called him an idiot. Feel better? He's rude, but he's right. When you choose to build in a flood plain, when you choose to drain wetlands--thereby removing any natural barriers to flooding--when you decide that Mother nature's rules don't apply to your 'right' to a view, then you will always get flooded. Always.
I donate to the Red Cross and other such organizations. And I don't live in a flood plain or a drained wetland area.
It really is that simple.

I sold my home in Ormond Beach 2 years ago at the top of the market. I was lucky. I had a three year old boy and didn't like any of the schools there.

I moved to a great school district just outside of Boston and I feel great. My job pays more than I made in Florida.

I do miss those "florida nights". The evening tennis. And I miss Publix. But, for the most part, Boston area is better. Much less humidity and the people are a lot smarter. Good luck to all those down there dealing with the flood.

Maybe, in a few years, I'll be able to get a second home down in old Ormond and I'll see some of my old rowdy friends again!

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Libra

It's another day when tensions are rife and you feel stretched to breaking point. You might even totally lose your temper with someone, instead of merely snapping at them as you did yesterday. Mars stomps into reverse today, so it would be better to clear the air now with a row, and then forget all about it, rather than allowing bad feelings to accumulate and fester inside you.
