Police responded to the 300 Block of Skokie Valley Road at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 12 for a report of multiple subjects fighting, one of whom had a tire iron.

Northbrook Fire Chief Retiring After More than 30 Years with Department
After more than thirty years of dedicated service to the Village of Northbrook, Fire Chief Mark Nolan announced his retirement effective November 16, 2014. This date is significant because, after completing the fire academy, it was November 16, 1981, thirty-three years to the day, when Mark worked his first shift as a Northbrook Firefighter.

Driver Going 90 MPH on Willow Arrested for DUI
Officers on patrol located the vehicle driven by Jamie Cisneros-Estrada, 26, of the 9400 block of Meadow Lane in Des Plaines, partially on the parkway at Dundee and Sanders roads at 10 p.m. Aug. 28. He told officers he lost control of the vehicle. Officers determined he was under the influence.

Glenbrook High School 225 Board of Education in Glenview and Northbrook is considering applying for a state grant that would fund a student-learning program in agricultural sciences at Historic Wagner Farm. The alternative learning plan will cover instruction in horticulture, animal and food sciences and agricultural financing in a work setting.

As of 6:30 this evening we have responded to 98 total calls centering around tree related debris as a result of this afternoon's storm that brought with it winds that measured 81 mph . While the rain came down very hard we only recorded .6 inches.
Prosecutor wants text messages in Rifkin case
A prosecutor wants the former Northern Illinois University police officer accused of sexually assaulting a student to turn over his cell phone with the text messages he says show the encounter was consensual. DeKalb County Assistant State's Attorney Jessica Finley wants Andrew Rifkin, 26, of the 3500 block of Meadow Street, Northbrook, to hand over the cell phone he has had since his 2011 arrest to look at text messages between Rifkin and the alleged victim on the day of the alleged offense and shortly afterward.
