Library offers lessons, lunch for local kids
This summer, the Atherton Library provided more than books for young students. As part of a program called "Library Learning Camps," the library helped second- and third-graders from local communities work on developing reading and writing skills.

Pasadena caregiver accused of elder abuse
A caregiver at a long term care facility in Pasadena was arrested Thursday for allegedly hitting a 72-year-old resident with a shoe and his hand, police said. Lt. John Luna said the 72-year-old man ended up with minor abrasions to the top of his head and redness to his chin.

Homeless man arrested for arson after torching his Blazer
A homeless man who set his 20-year-old Chevy Blazer on fire in North Fair Oaks while high on drugs pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a charge of arson, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Joe David Sosa, 35, poured gasoline onto a pile of clothes inside the vehicle and lit them on Aug. 29, according to prosecutors.
German-American International School finds a temporary home
The German-American International School, which must move off the campus it had leased on the former O'Connor School site in the Willows neighborhood by May 2015 to make way for a new public school there, has found a temporary home, and bought some time to make permanent arrangements for a new school site.

Man suspected of burglarizing Sharon Heights home and vehicle arrested in North Fair Oaks
After a brief chase near Chavez Supermarket in unincorporated Redwood City at about 11:10 a.m. Wednesday , deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office captured and arrested Kevin Michael Dolf, 34, of Belmont on charges that include burglary and check fraud, both felonies.
