Salem Parks chief eyes windmill for pond
City Parks Director Steve Faber isn't chasing windmills like the famed Don Quixote, but he's chasing the idea of building one at Waterworth Memorial Park to help aerate the duck pond.
He was born April 3, 1982 in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Robert Gene Baird Sr. of Salem and Lorena M. Lamb of Kentucky.
North Benton bicyclist struck by van, killed
Robert G. Baird Jr., 29, 9 state Route 14, was pronounced dead on scene by the Mahoning County Coroner's Office following the crash just west of Beloit Snodes Road at 6:59 a.m. According to the Canfield post of the State Highway Patrol, Baird was riding the bicycle eastbound when he was struck by a 1997 Dodge Caravan driven by Mitchel L.
