Power, LIRR problems on windy LI morning

High winds knocked out power to more than 17,000 Long Island homes and businesses Tuesday, and caused at least one frustrating blaze for firefighters in North Babylon when a downed high power line ignited a parked pickup truck.

This week's snow and cold may be to blame for the death of an elderly woman. The body of Lillian Tree, 91, was fouind yesterday by a relative at the bottom of an icy flight of steps leading out of her home on Rhoda Avenue in North Babylon.
