Alex V. Cook will be reading from and signing copies of his latest book, "Louisiana Saturday Night," from 2-3 p.m. today at Barnes & Noble, 5705 Johnston St.

Joe Garner Turner, a native of Noonday, will sign copies of his latest book, "40 Days to Eternity," from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble, 6646 Youree Drive, in Shreveport.

The two iconic New Orleans marching bands will participate in a Battle of the Bands outside Tipitina's during the outdoor portion of the Instruments A Comin' benefit, which begins at 6 p.m. tonight.
