Violent crime in Newhall has dropped slightly, but vehicle break-ins are still a routine problem, a sheriff's official said Thursday.

At about 8:30 a.m., at least half a dozen deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a stolen car spotted in the area of 6th and Arch streets, east of the Railroad Avenue near the railway tracks.
