Mother, son are indicted
A New Matamoras man who reportedly stole thousands of dollars of glassware from a Grandview Township home where his mother was housesitting was indicted this week by a Washington County grand jury.

Betty Ann DeLong, 82, of Long Bottom, Ohio, formerly of New Matamoras, Ohio, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio.
No decision on Frontier schools
After almost two hours of discussion, the Frontier Local Schools Board of Education chose to withhold a vote on whether it will close one of its three elementary schools for a later meeting, though school officials confirm that regardless of opinion, the district cannot afford to operate at its current state past the 2015-2016 school year.
During summer months, many area children are forced to confront hunger on a daily basis, when there's no school and they might not have adequate access to food.
But in Washington County about 880 households are also living in Section 8 housing or receiving housing assistance vouchers-about 3.5 percent of the county's population- with another 1,200 families on a voucher waiting list.
