this is GREAT!!!!! Thanks to everyone involved! Makes me proud to be from New Madrid. What can we do to help?

If you really want to help call the Chamber of Commerce, Brad Kolwyck at Martindale's, Donnie Brown (Mayor). Any of these people can tell you where they need the help...Lions Club is also having the "Riverbend Car and Bike Show" that day as well as the Chamber's Arts and Crafts show and the Family Resource Center's Family Fun Day. Any of those "events" will need HELP! Call anyone in the Lions Club, Family Resource Center or Chamber and they would be grateful for the help.

This is usually a pretty good event with people having a lot of fun at the weigh in and on the levee. Everybody should try to make it so we can show them how much our town supports events like these.

The very best way to help is to come and support the event. There will be so much to see and do, something for everyone in the family. If you have any questions just give me a call at the Chamber office. We all appreciate your interest and willingness to help. See ya there!

I agree!!! My kids always have a great time fishing every year!!! This is one of the best events our town has to offer! |

Beleive it or not, the Cabella's guys say New Madrid puts on a better event than Cape, Caruthersville and some of the other bigger towns. It's because they have so much support from the citizens of New Madrid. You should hold your head up HIGH for that one. These guys go all over the United States and are impressed with our little town. Keep up the good work, people!

We should ban B.Tanner, J.Whitehead, and S.Williams from participating.
Because the others probably don't stand a chance against them! haha - even the pros. Seriously, good luck to everyone this year. Hope the weather participates! |

of the people that think they run this town(or maybe they do), we could have had another catfish tournament here in the fall with Bass Pro. JW worked hard at this but the city administration decided against it because one of their families was a sponser for the Cabela's tournament. I thought this was a free world and that a little competition never hurt anyone.

I agree it is a great event and the above comment is just a bunch of bull. |

Facts about Bass Pro: Ken Freeman Outdoors is the name of the company who promotes the tournaments. They wanted between $7500 and $10,000 UPFRONT to put on the tournament. The City and sponsors don't pay nearly that much for the Cabella's tournament (Less than half that amount)You all are complaining about the City spending money on cleaning up the town and you think they should spend that amount of money on a 1 day event? I don't think so. Yes, JW worked hard on this. If he could get enough sponsors to cover the costs, then they would be more open to the idea. That's how Caruthersville got Bass Pro, but they don't have Cabella's either.

You can get the registration info from the New Madrid Chamber of commerce; the phone number is seven-four-eight five-three-zero-zero; the executive director will be able to assist you.

You are correct Tat! You can pick up an application for the fishing tournament at the Chamber office or you can download them from the website. We should have the registration forms for the kids tournament, skeet, and archery soon. If you need a car show registration, you can get them from the Lion's Club. Thanks all!
