AUGUSTA, Maine – Maine's state parks and historic sites will remain open and staffed on Monday, July 6, even though the day has been designated as the first state shutdown day of the new fiscal year.

It was just another busy June afternoon last year at Bagaduce Lunch in Brooksville, ME - lobsters steaming, butter melting, lines stretching around the no-frills riverside building - when the letter arrived.

Portland Museum Of Art Murray Hantman's life spanned almost the whole of the twentieth century , and for half that time the New Yorker spent his summers on Monhegan and in New Harbor, compelled by the unique lighting and expansive vistas of the Maine coast.
