No matter how many times we report it, it is amazing to hear the details of yet another local resident taken in a scam.

A New Douglas man is out $5,000 after he believed he had won money in a sweepstakes and sent the payment cover what he thought was insurance for the prize.

Mrs. Barth was a homemaker, Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and past president as well as part owner/operator of Barth's Lake alongside her husband.

3 people were killed including a preacher during a church service and two people in a funeral procession.

She was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Carlinville, the daughter of Joseph and Jean Reed Hansen.
