St. Stephen's Lutheran gets new pastor on Sunday
The Rev. Dianne Loufman, who last served as interim pastor of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Conshohocken, Pa., will be installed as the new pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Officiating will be Bishop Herz-Lane from the Maryland Delaware Synod, along with the Rev. David Mueller, who has served as interim at St. Stephen's. Loufman holds a master of divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary. She first served as pastor at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Jersey City, N.J., from 1987 to 1996. Her new church is located at 13th and Broom streets in Wilmington. An energy-saving workshop, which had to be rescheduled because of snow, will be held Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, in Wilmington. Man arrested in cigarette store robbery
Detectives arrested a 32-year-old New Castle man Thursday in connection with a cigarette store robbery last week. John R. Flamer was charged with first-degree robbery in the Feb. 2 incident at First State Discount Cigarettes in the 200 block of New Castle Ave., Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said. Popeye's Restaurant robbed near New Castle
State police are investigating an armed robbery today at a New Castle-area restaurant. The holdup occurred about 12:05 a.m. at the Popeye’s Restaurant at 1505 N. Du Pont Highway (U.S. 13), where two men confronted two male employees as they were closing, said Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale. One of the men was armed with a handgun and the other with a shotgun and they demanded cash. One of the employees turned over an undisclosed sum and the pair ran out.
