A Hempstead lawyer cleared of conspiracy and scheming to defraud charges in a New Cassel development deal that ensnared three former government officials said he feels vindicated, but the case has hurt his career.

A New Cassel man was arrested Thursday in connection with a violent armed robbery of a Westbury art store and faces additional charges after attacking a police officer in an attempt to evade arrest, Nassau County police said in a statement Friday.

A man wanted in a 2011 armed robbery and his cousin, who fought officers trying to take the suspected robber into custody, were arrested Thursday morning at a home in New Cassel, police said.

Brett Cohen, 22, of New Cassel, was arrested after he allegedy stole an exterior air conditioning unit from a Hicksville home.

An abandoned school classified as a brownfield site will be demolished and cleaned up with a $200,000 federal grant to North Hempstead Town, U.S. Sen.
