Brookhaven cracks down on eyesore in Mastic
As part of a campaign against substandard housing, Town of Brookhaven officials Thursday announced the condemnation of a Mastic house they said has some of the worst living conditions the town's inspectors have ever seen.

Rental Permits are a tax. They serve no other purpose whatsoever besides raising rents to tenants. The house is being used as a house so why the permit? If a house is in degraded condition or has violations they can be dealt with without a rental permit. Should we have ownership permits for owner occupied homes too? Why not?

1 The "problem" was that there was no running water, no electricity, no heat along with filth, animal feces, and who knows what else. Perhaps that's no big deal if one lives in a cave in Kentucky, but on Long Island, it's a problem. Children need the aforementioned utilities and basic necessities for survival. |
