Why does the NN Contract Accounting department exist?? All financial documents must FIRST go through the Contract Accounting department for approval before proceding onto their respective destination; travel, procurement, human resources, payroll, etc. If there are insufficient funds, incorrect accounting codes, no supporting documents or questionable expenses, then the documents should be returned without action! END OF STORY! These recurring stories show that the Navajo Nation absolutely cannot operate on its own. Dissolve the nation!!

Ever try to understand Lorenzo Bates reasoning on any issues - Usually totally incoherent, a puzzled bewilderment, and no substantiative justification. Not sure why the voters keep electing him as CD.

I object to the Daily Times calling the current Council as 'new'. Over 50% of them are from the old Council.

And the spaghetti gets bigger. And all this time we thought we had a Leader in Joe Shirley. Now his sidekick Shelly and his "Happy" cronies are at he wheel. GOD HELP US! PLEASE! And Lorenzo continues to give excuses as he will continue for his Casino and the Dineh People will continue to suffer, no house, no scholarships, no money and the list goes on. Lorenzo's silver tongue will never get tarnished as he has no conscience. By the way where is the Controller Grant? Too busy stealing I guess.

Greed! From rags to riches! Now the generation will have no funds! Mr. Shelly and cronies think they will do great for the nation as i see no action yet, actually they will have to volunteer their service to balance the budget. When have you seen volunteerism within our Nation! N o n e !!!

If the US Gov't did this to your checks to save money 90% of check than 1/2 it I'm sure you'd live in your budget without useing credit? Let's take and example GC 950 x90%= 855 divided by 1/2 =427.50 Live within your means

Bate's excuses are lame - passing the buck, letting it "roll down the hill." In time, he'll also point the finger to the Controller, OMB, Joe Shirley, the people who voted for a smaller Council, failure to have the information earlier, and so on. BUT, when a program falls out of compliance, Bates is the first one pounding on his chest like Rambo or a crazed ape chastising their failure.
Mr. Bates, the law of averages says you'll get your day however way you want to spin the situation.
You failed to uphold your fiduciary responsibility as the budget chair Mr. Bates. But you're too afraid to admit that.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Cancer

Life has plenty to offer today, especially when it comes to enjoyment. You're in the mood for some fun and games, whether that means playing with your children or getting up to something very adult with you-know-who. You'll enjoy being as active as possible, and will jump at the chance of taking part in a competitive sport... provided you can win, of course.
