Firefighters from the Texas Forest Service and other agencies continued Tuesday to keep an eye on a wildfire in northeastern Anderson County which officials now say consumed approximately 400 acres.
Fire scorches hundreds of acres
Officials have declared a 350 acre wildfire near the Anderson County line a disaster area on Monday to draw in necessary funds and manpower to fight the flames.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: The 150 acre fire has been contained. At one point six homes were threatened.
Throckmorton declared 'impediment to Reconstruction,' removed as governor
Hello fellow Texans and friends of Texas. Today is Saturday, July 30, 2011. On July 30, 1867, James Webb Throckmorton, first governor of Texas after the Civil War, was removed from office for being declared an "impediment to Reconstruction." On the grounds that the state of Texas did not support the 14th Amendment, he refused to support it himself.
