School superintendents in northeastern North Dakota report fewer students this year but they say the families of pipeline workers are making up for some of the decline.

A coalition of environmental groups has filed a lawsuit challenging a U.S. State Department permit that allows an oil pipeline to be built through North Dakota and two other states.

Officials of the border town of Neche have asked for 15,000 sandbags to prepare for more flooding.

A couple of close calls for two northeastern North Dakota towns battling floodwaters.

Ten half-ton sandbags were used to halt overland floodwater from overpowering two culverts Thursday, stopping an immediate threat to the town of Neche, along U.S.-Canadian border.
