The Morning Call
Candy Keller recalls the day her 3-year-old daughter, Jaime, sat on the edge of a piano bench with her legs dangling, singing ''Jesus Loves Me'' to a group of senior citizens including her grandmother.
''They were so moved by her,'' said Keller, remembering the tears that flowed from their eyes. ''Her song gave people something, something that touched them.''
From then on, Keller, of Nazareth, brought her daughter to sing at events, a public service that grew to attract more singers and a worthy cause. As donations were offered, a new charity was born: Dream Kids, which in 20 years has raised nearly $80,000 for Dream Come True, a Lehigh Valley organization that grants wishes to terminally ill children.

Dog goes missing in house fire
Carol Fry stood outside her Nazareth home Friday afternoon, resting her head on her fiance's shoulder, waiting for word on whether her terrier, Toto, survived a fire at her house.
Her sister, Patricia Danner, held her pet ferret and sat quietly on the steps of the neighbor's home.
Just an hour earlier, Fry and her fiancA©, Dave Lopresti, were packing for a trip to New Jersey. Fry was wrapping a birthday gift for the trip when she smelled smoke coming from the basement.
She alerted her sister and Lopresti and together they managed to round up two dogs, a cat and the ferret, but still missing an hour after the fire erupted was Fry's butterscotch-colored terrier, Toto. ''I don't care about the antiques or my business; I just want them to find my dog,'' said Fry, who has lived in the home at 226 Mauch Chunk St. for more than 25 years.
