Wreck on 17 Business results in one death

A wreck that took place this morning near the Garden City Connector on 17 Business by Cyprus Avenue resulted in one fatality. Horry County Coroner's Office has confirmed that Nancy Rawls, 87, of Myrtle Beach died in the car accident that took place this morning at 6:35.

Police Blotter: Hanging out at the Waffle House

Deputies were sent to the Murrells Inlet Waffle House around 6:30 a.m., Aug. 30, where they found an intoxicated 44-year-old man sleeping on the hood of his car with his privates exposed 'where the patrons of the Waffle House could see it,' the report states. Once he was awake, deputies saw he was so intoxicated he had no idea how he got on the car or why his body part was hanging out of his pants.

When Derek Metzler, 35, of Pawleys Island, graduated from Benjamin Logan High School in Belefontaine, Ohio, he considered joining the Marine Corps, but went into fire service instead. He had lived in the South Strand area before going to Florida, so he and his wife, Lajla, moved back here and he applied at fire stations here.
