Bailey County authorities say 34-year-old Artemio Hinojos Gonzales escaped from their custody.

Officials for Parmer and Bailey counties said residences and vehicles sustained hail damage Tuesday evening from severe thunderstorms that made their way through the area.

Lubbock managed to miss the most severe brunt of the thunderstorms last night, but several south plains communities were not as lucky.

The site of severe thunderstorm development will once again lie across the Plains today, while the flood-ravaged mid-Mississippi Valley welcomes more dry weather.

The all clear sirens were sounded in Farwell and Muleshoe after thunderstorms packing large hail roared through the area about 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
