Muldrow man charged with sodomy
The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday arrested Henry Vargas, 39, of the Short area on one count of forcible sodomy and four counts of sexual battery.
Sequoyah County District Judge Jeff Payton Monday set a trial date of Feb. 27 for a Muldrow man charged withrepeatedly raping a child under the age of 14.
Teen arrested for home burglary
A 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of burglary and attempted burglary.
The jury was seated Monday in the Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw to hear the case against Scotty Eric Thacker, 34, of Muldrow for allegedly shooting the son of a former girlfriend.
Barnes to seek commission post
Mark Barnes of Sallisaw announced his candidacy Monday for Sequoyah County Commissioner District 2. Barnes said he was born and raised in Sallisaw and has lived his entire life in the community.
