Daniel Milliam, 18, was at the wheel on Greedy Highway headed east toward N.C. 127 when he hit a slick patch of pavement, ran off the right side of the road, careened down the steep bank and flipped upside down into the river, said Investigating Trooper K.E. Travis.

Mountain View- A mobile home was destroyed by fire Friday morning. The fire began at around 10:00 a.m. at a mobile home on 1756 Ponderosa Road.

HICKORY Law enforcement officials are searching for a hit and run suspect who ran down a Lenoir man on U.S. 321 killing him early this morning.

Lutheran Services for the Aging has announced plans to relocate Lutheran Home-Hickory West, its 120-bed nursing home on 10th Street in Hickory, to a new location in Catawba County.
