because it is a public office and she is accountable for what she does. Nobody gets that drunk without someone smelling it and the fact that the mayor was working beside her is the reason she is being investigated

she didn't even show up at the jail. The jailer came looking for them. I wish people would leave her alone and let her do her job. If you think you can do better...shut the hell up and run for mayor next time.

What more does she have to do to prove she is not capable of the title? She sure did the whole city proud on the news. She could have at least stood up during the interview and "acted" like the mayor! For someone to be so "innocent" she sure has made the new a lot. Got us on the map, right? Ha!

This moron has demonstrated over and over why she needs to be removed from office. If she is representing our city, she needs to be fired badly!

Allegedly, she is the Mayor. She hold a public office. If a public official does something to make the news, good or bad, she is no different from the rest of us. The papers can print their story. The Media can run with it and we can speak of it. Each will form their opinions or be unbiased in their writings. If she keeps sticking her neck on the chopping block and can't think twice of her actions then so be it..report it! We ask eachother and children to act responsibly and think before acting, what makes her any better? She could have stood up like a woman and spoke to the media, instead of crouching like a 3 year old on a curb missing the ice cream man. Where is the professional that is suppoesed to hold this office? While I am venting, when this was first reported, why if she thought she had a "stoke victim", or a "diabetic", would she go buy two cups of coffee, a candy bar and ice? Ummm. A)coffee to sober up, B)candy ...for a diabetic? C)ice for the wound. A and C..the candy was just because she had the craving for chocolate maybe. I believe as an un-trained person I would have called the emergency department if I felt I had a person with diabetic problems or a stoke. She had coffee instead. Slamming her?, nope, those are her words. Accusing her?, nope, she digs her own holes just fine. An investigation is being conducted and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this story. So sit tight , sit down and hold on. Because if you don't like the "media" getting involved your in for one bumpy ride. Maybe you should call the Mayor and ask her to stay out of the "spotlight" for more than a month and then perhaps they would stop writing about her and putting her on T.V.

If you don't like how the mayor is doing then you have a right to vote against her. You even have the right to run against her. I really don't care which one you or anyone else does, but complaining about her isn't going to solve the problem. Run for office, or get someone run to run against her. Otherwise this is just hot air. I actually think it's sad that the mayor has made the news over such trivial events. "A prisoner gets drunk on worker release" is a headline? Surely there are more important events like the economy, kids and drugs, the war, healthcare, finishing up the interstate or 150 in the county. In my opinion, there are more important thing to worry about than the mayor making the news for a first, second or third time. But don't let me stop you, keep writing guys.

Did someone make a rule that you have to be able to run for Mayor to have an opinion about the news? I can't fly a jet plane. I'm way too ignorant to do so but I think if someone gets drunk and tries to pilot one that I am qualified to say that's not the way a pilot should act.

This woman is the Mayor. I would think that even a ignorant stump jumper like me would be allowed to say that she should not be going to the jail (as per the story I read starting this thread)and have been drinking. Now we have one poster saying that was not the case. "she didn't even show up at the jail. The jailer came looking for them".(cut and pasted from earlier post). So what did the Jailer need to go looking her for? Was she drinking with an inmate from the RC lockup? If so that's as bad or even worse because I wouldn't know any reason for a Mayor of a city to have an inmate out drinking with them. The prisoner has done something to add to their time but most inmates would do the same in a similar situation. but a Mayor, that's another animal. All this is alleged, but if it's proven then the woman should be removed if not arrested. Seems she'll be there with friends anyway. I would imagine that she was not just picking out a drinking buddy for the day.

Now maybe I've been out in the See-Mint Pond a little too long but the story made the news. Even if it hadn't you cannot expect to be in a public office and be able to do what is alleged and call it private life.

In my honest opinion I truly believe that her loosing her youngest son is what has caused her to act like she has been acting.

Possibly but the woman is holding a job that has a direct impact on the people of Mt. Vernon. She can either do the job or not and the people have a right to have a qualified person in that office. Mt. Vernon has it';s fair share of problems. The Mayor should not be one of them.

Everyone has their day with God. She will have to answer to whatever she is or has done. but I am not from Mt. Vernon. But it sounds like she needs to resign from being Mayor of the city. She sounds like she has mental issues. So why don't she just do it RESIGN!!!!! Before she gets hurt, or someone gets mad and hurts her from the way people talk about her around there. Maybe she is just strung out from the gossip, or she likes all this gossip about her. Maybe she is obsessed with all this complaints. Somewhere she needs again to RESIGN!!!!!!

i have to say that even tho she may have made mistakes ,she has done a lot a good for our city...look around....how many perfect peoplele do you see?????

She don't have to be perfect. I'll wager many people are more critical of the local fast food drive through employee than they are their mayor.

I would hope that people expect their elected officials to do the job put in front of them. and in being a community leader one should know to lead by example. I see countless posts here about drugs, theft and about every other counter productive behavior. I would think that the one with the authority to made decisions about the future of the city that they have the ability to control themselves. At least to a point where they are not in the news for doing things that would get that restaurant employee arrested.

no one is perfect but mabe if mt.vernon had a good leader and stood up for whats right then made we wouldnt have so many pepole that is bad i mean look there is pepole that is not from around here that has heard about us i mean that is really bad i mean just becouse she lost her son dont mean that she had to go and get an inmate drunk ok so that dont make it ok u know i mean that is not the only thing that she has done that has been mested up like we she ran over the mt vernon fire fighters water hoes ok they are putting there life down for this hell hoe and we have ignerite pepole like her to get someone hurt or even killed and my bother inlaw one of them that could have been one of them pepole i think that we need a new major and forget about cloris kirby she has done some good things but things that would have happend if she wasnt in the office

i agree that she has went crazy since she has lost her son,and i guess that would make anyone crazy to loose a child i know it would me cause i just couldnt imagine loosing one of my boys,but yes if it is effecting her this bad then she needs to give up her job as mayor,i love her to death as a person,but not as a mayor,because she is giving our town a bad name.
