Allegations prompt investigation into mayor's involvement with drunk inmate

The mayor I thinks needs to resign from Mt. Vernon. I feel that she is mentally ill. She pulled out in front of me last year in Mt. Vernon. Had a teenager with her and she was pointing her finger @ the teenager and very obvious that she was yelling @ him. I blowed and she never even acted like she saw me. Thank God I was not speeding. She looks dangerous to me. She does not treat her employee's good either. I know for a fact that is true. Sorry Mrs. Kirby but it is time you get professional help.

Heard she was arrested Fri. nite right in the court house. And there is a rumor started from Wendy's that she was under the influence of some kind of medication, when arrested. Can you believe that right in the courthouse. As a citizen of Mt. Vernon. Come on people we need to do something about this before she decides to blow a Bldg. up.

I wasnt there, however, as I see it, where there's a will there's a way for an addict or alcoholic and that's what this looks like to me!!! To start with, I think the work release program is no longer working. It gives them too much freedom. It started out as a good program and what citizens thought would be good has backfired, so to speak. People thought making them work would make them not want to be in jail, however, drugs are still obtained thru work release; anyone can tell you that. Anyone thats been in jail can tell you that deals are still made from within the walls. In Clarice's defense, I dont think she should have to take the blame for this one. It could have happened to anyone. Just so happens to be that she was the one that happened to be in this position when this girls opportunity came knocking..........

The mayor was never arrested for this. Nor was she under the influence. Get your facts Straight!

I think The mayor is doing a fine job.

I heard that the jail was the best place to be to get high and also when these prisoners are out in the community that their boyfriends, girlfriends and relatives sneaks them cell phones and drugs so the mayor was just at the wrong place at the wrong time someone could of taken that alochol to the potty before they got done there and the prisoner knew it would be there. I think the mayor is doing a great job and as far as I am concern the staff at the jail has had the very same thing happen to them I mean my gosh they made homemade wine inside the cell before. These prisoners are there for a reason.

Clarice Kirby needs to resign. Has she not embarrassed the town enough? She was obviously high when talking on TV. She changed her story 3 or 4 times and acted like a crazy person. Do we really need someone like that in the mayor's office? The other mayor's may not have been much better, but they were not smeared all over the news every few days.

Perhaps all the people who have commented on Clarice Kirby not being a good mayor, should probably run for the office. Then and only then will you learn how hard it is too please each of you whom can only critize her. You need to respect her and help her to do a good job. Then once her term is over, run for the office and then you can be put on the hot seat. Try to be nice to other people. Once you do, then and only then will you be able to sleep good at night. I know when you're in a small town, spreading rumors and gossip is all their is. I personally think she is doing a good job.

No wonder so many grow up having no trust in our government. It's because the officials can't walk the line. I think she needs to resign soon. You know, she doesn't even look like a mayor.
