Joe knows more than most of you put together. He'll run the office the right way and put people in position to succeed. Don't hate on him because he's 26. All he needs is some time.

It's not Joe's age that is the problem--how is he going to show anyone how to work successfully at anything when he has never worked at all? At age 26, he has ALREADY had more than enough time not only to get a job but to be well on his way to establishing a fine career. Most lawyers, accountants, and other professionals who have had to earn a post-graduate professional degree--of which Joe has earned none--start their career at age 24. Most office managers start their career at age 18 and have 8 years of experience by the time they are Joe's age. Since he graduated from college five years ago, Joe has sat on his butt and lived off his grandmother Waymack. He does not pay bills. He does not cook meals. He does not even wash his own dirty underwear. He sits around and plays with cats. Unlike what you stated, Joe does not know more than most of us put together--he does not even know as much as one of us, nor display the self-sufficiency of a fourteen year old. Your comment simply defies common sense.

SO--it is now confirmed that Joseph Waymack will be running the Commonwealth's Attorney's office. Have you ever considered the Professional Ethics Code section that prohibits a non-lawyer from running an office of law? Have you forgotten about Judicial Cannon 3 and the fact that such an arrangement with Joseph Waymack will put that office in perpetual ethical conflict with the Hopewell Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court of his aunt, Judge Jacqueline Waymack? Have you forgotten the fact that there are rules that apply to the office of the Commonwealth's Attorney? I can't wait 'til you apprise the Judges of this.

Haven't you all figured it out yet? Newman is a Waymack puppet--they drafted him, crafted him, and brought him to life with manipulable strings. Joseph has to hang around so the puppet will know how to move. Pepeto controls the puppet. Who do you think is getting rehearsed, reshaped, repaired when the curtain closes? If Joseph does not officially run the office, he will do it behind the scenes.

Sounds like Cheryl Collins is disappointed she is not in the loop.

I hear John Randolph has some beds on the 3rd floor to help you deal with your delusional disorder. Perhaps you should use Elder as a reference and see if you get a discount. |

You ought to know what floor it's on. I hear your aunt's been there before.

Spare me the legal rules and mumbo jumbo.
Relax... Joe has it under control. The Real Citizens of Hopewell have his back. |
||||
Did you really see Nino on the night of the election. The group of people seemed pretty classy and I didn't see anyone of your caliber. I think you would have stood out in the crowd... |
||||
Tell the Virginia State Bar what you think about their mumbo jumbo. And get the "citizens" to back you with that. |
||||
I guess he was the one in the clown suit and may be taken as seriously. How could he possibly see over that big red nose that he keeps sticking where it does not belong? Frankly, the Newman camp braggadocio about winning the election is growing old and losing its punch line as a response to everything our side writes that they do not like and to which they cannot come up with an intelligent response. Example: The sky is blue....Uh-uhhh, we won the election!!! Flowers bloom in the spring...Uh-uhhh, we won the election!!! You have no class...Uh-uhhh, burn you! We won the election!!!!!!!! They are using the winning of an election as a license to disregard every rule, standard, and simple civility and as a standing response to every challenge or criticism. Isn't this what they criticized Nino for doing--I won; therefore, I can do anything I want????? |

Whether you like it or not, Joe is not allowed to have "it under control." Joe is not allowed to control that law office or to participate in any way in the practice or the governance of the practice of law. He is not a lawyer. It does not matter what you think about him. It does not matter what the "Citizens" think about him. The bottom line is that the Rules of the Supreme Court SPECIFICALLY prohibit him as a non-lawyer from the controlling or engaging in the practice or the governance of the practice of law. Look it up. Do you take this all as a joke?! Is the message you are sending to the public that the Newman camp does not care about the law, or in your words, "mumbo jumbo?" Can we expect Newman to argue his points to the judge by asserting, "Oh, Judge...it doesn't matter...it's just the law...a bunch of mumbo jumbo?" Is this the caliber of lawyering we can expect out of that office? I must say I am not surprised, and the more you Newman people say, the more I am convinced that a mockery of law and justice has been made through the votes of YOUR people. |

As an outsider looking in, I am trying to understand what everyone is arguing about.
It seems that a person named Joe, is said to be the new office manager for the new CA, but yet, this appointment has not been announced. What does being an office manager have to do with trying cases or engaging in the practice of law? Did the current office manager do this? If not, then why would you assume that the incoming manger would? Please clear this up for all of us that are unfamiliar with the operation of a law office. Is there a legal requirement that you have to be a lawyer or a paralegal to be a law office manager? |

Sorry folks, I am not disappointed. As a matter of fact I am extremly pleased there will be a change for the better in Hopewell on January 4th. The difference between December 31 and January 4 will be phone calls will be returned, policemen/women and citizens will be respected and more than likley, the door will be open. New programs will be developed, old ones will be reviewed and re-fashioned. As for all the ill words back and forth (from both camp's), it is time for it to stop. We all need to afford Rick Newman the chance to develop his office the way he sees fit. Yes, he will make mistakes. We all do. I worked on Rick's campaign day in and day out. Rick is a good man and an extremly rational thinker. If Joseph Waymack is hired to be on Rick's team, I know it won't be to practice law. Joseph is not a lawyer however he is college educated, smart and will do a great job. Hiring your campaign manager is not out of the norm. Rick and Joseph work well together. You are only as good as the paper trail people left behind. If Rick is not able to walk into an organized office on January 4, it will be a reflection on those who left it that way. Let it go, focus on the future. Again I am not disappointed. For those who can't let it go, call Rick January 4 and schedule an appointment with him. Get to know him and then make up your own mind. Don't let this Blog give you bad information. |

I don't think anyone has said anything about Joe being an office manager--it was said that he would be in charge of running the office--being the "boss"??? A nonlawyer cannot be the boss of a lawyer or in any way determine his strategy or whom he hires as his other attorneys. No one has said anything specifically about what Joe will do, as far as I know. I personally do not know what kind of manager they are talking about--there are a zillion types of possible "managers" in a law office--some need to be lawyers, some don't. As far as the title of "office manager," that varies from law office to law office. It depends on how specifically the roles involved are defined. If they involve legal strategy or substantive law, then the person needs to be a lawyer. Hope this helps.

Come on, Joseph, you are not that confused. The only one who would be pretending to assume the talk is specifically about the position of office manager and yet at the same time be aware of the insider information that this announcement had not been made public is you (and Newman). You are not "an outsider looking in." If you in fact end up in that position, I suggest that you either learn to lie more convincingly or get it through your head that you are not smarter than everybody else like you think you are and everybody else is not as dumb as you would like to think. |

I am definitely NOT Joseph. Just a citizen who happened to get one of Newman's latest mailings today that stated that Newman had yet to announce two key positions,replacing the Deputy CA and the Office Manager.

It's easy enough to figure out. Judge Waymack wants to keep her courtroom airtight by stacking it with attorneys and officers of the court who will not turn her in to the Judicial Inquiry Board like Nino and the other ethical people did (she didn't like Nino blowing the whistle on her, which is exactly what needed to be done). I hear she was in Virginia Lawyers Weekly not that long ago and she had basically admitted through some sort of fancy legal plea that she had engaged in ethical misconduct. This situation with Newman and her nephew is one way of dodging scrutiny from higher judicial authority. |
