National Weather Service meteorologists believe the damage and debris near Westlake was the result of an EF-1 tornado Wednesday.

On January 10th, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Kayla M. Hooper, 19, of Moss Bluff, after receiving two separate reports of Hooper engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, both acquaintances of Hooper.

Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to fatal crash on Highway 171 just south of Moss Bluff at around 9:30 p.m. Two pickup trucks were involved near the intersection of Old Town Road.
