Dee Burch met his future wife, Mary, in the summer of 1936 in Fort Worth. Mary's sister and her husband had moved in next door to Dee's family. Mary and her sister were country girls, from the little town of Morgan Mill. Mary came to visit her sister and soon made friends with Dee's mother, who was a country girl herself.
Dee fell rather hard for Mary, a petite brunette with brown eyes and a beautiful voice, and they dated occasionally, particularly after she started working in Fort Worth. On one date, they went to see Stagecoach, with John Wayne and Claire Trevor. Read more
